First-aid measures

Following inhalation:

Remove person to fresh air. If breathing is irregular or stopped, administer artificial respiration. If symptoms continue, get medical attention. Show the safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance.

Following skin contact:

Wash immediately off with plenty of water and soap. Remove and wash contaminated clothing before re-use. If symptoms persist, contact a doctor. Show the safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance.

Following eye contact:

Hold eye open and rinse thoroughly with water for 15-20 min. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do so, then continue rinsing the eye. If symptoms presist, contact a doctor. Show the safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance.

Following ingestion:

Rinse mouth immediately and drink plenty of water. Observe risk of aspiration if vomiting occurs. If symptoms persist, call a doctor. Show the safety data sheet to the doctor in attendance.

Most important symptoms and effects:

Inhalation

Effects: May cause allergic respiratory reaction. Irritating to the respiratory system.

Symptoms: Shortness of breath, wheezing and coughing. The effect of inhalation may be delayed.

Skin contact

Effects: May cause slight irritation.

Symptoms: Slight irritation.

Eye contact

Effects: May cause slight irritation.

Symptoms: Slight irritation.

Ingestion

Effects: Ingestion may cause gastro-intestinal irritation.

Symptoms: Irritation.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media:

Water, carbon dioxide, foam, powder

Unsuitable extinguishing media:

High power water jet

Hazardous combustion products:

On burning, this material may generate toxic gases of combustion such as oxides of carbon, nitrogen and sulphur (COx, NOx and SOx) just like any organic material.

Advice for firefighters:

As in any fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective gear.

Specific hazards arising from the chemical:

May cause an allergic respiratory reaction.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:

Due to the intrinsic hazard for respiratory sensitization which is associated to enzymes, handle with special care. Provide adequate ventilation. Do not breathe gas/fumes/vapour/spray. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes. Wear suitable personal protection: safety glasses with side-shields, protective gloves and clothing. When handling solid products, protective gloves that meet the minimum requirements of EN420 to be used. When handling liquid products, gloves that meet the additional requirements of EN374-2 should be worn. Suitable glove materials: nitrile rubber, butyl rubber, natural rubber (latex) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC). Chemical resistant gloves according to EN374-3 are not required. In case of inadequate ventilation, wear respiratory protection (respirator with a particle filter (EN143), P3 filters are recommended). Remove contaminated clothing and wash before reuse.

Environmental precautions:

Do not allow to enter into surface water or drains. Do not discharge directly to a water source. If accidental spillage or washings enter drains or water courses, contact the local Environmental Authority.

Methods and material for cleaning up:

Use appropriate personal protection. Avoid contact with the product. Contain spilled product and collect by non-dispersive methods or with a vacuum cleaner equipped with a high efficiency filter. Absorb liquids with liquid-binding material (e.g. sand, diatomaceous earth, acid- or universal binding agents). After spillage avoid generating aerosols or dust from dried preparation. Do not sweep, brush or use compressed air, as this can create aerosols. Avoid splashing and high pressure washing. Provide for sufficient ventilation. Wash with plenty of water.

Handling and storage

Handling:

Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Do not breathe gas/fumes/vapour/spray. Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothes. Wear suitable gloves, clothing and eye/face protection. Ensure adequate ventilation. Avoid formation of dust and aerosols. Avoid accumulation of dust. Avoid breathing dust or spray mist. Provide appropriate exhaust ventilation at places where dust is formed. Conduct regular cleaning of equipment, work area and clothing.

Storage:

Keep container tightly closed. Store in a cool, dry place accessible by authorised persons only. Provide adequate ventilation as well as local exhaustion at critical locations. Recommended storage temperature: < 10 °C.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Due to the intrinsic hazard for respiratory sensitization which is associated to enzymes, handle with special care.

Appropriate engineering controls:

If dried preparations handled uncovered, use local exhaust ventilation. Provide adequate ventilation. Do not breathe gas/fumes/vapour/spray.

Protective and hygiene measures:

Remove contaminated clothing and wash before re-use. Wash hands and face before breaks and after the work shift. Do not eat or drink while using the substance.

Eye/face protection:

Wear safety glasses with side-shields.

Hand and skin protection:

Wear protective gloves and clothing. No additional material, thickness, or breakthrough time requirements.

Respiratory protection:

In case of inadequate ventilation, wear respiratory protection. Respirator with a particle filter (EN143), P3 filters are recommended.

Stability and reactivity

The product is chemically stable under recommended conditions of storage, use and temperature.

Disposal considerations

Advice on disposal:

Do not allow to enter into surface water or drains. Dispose of waste according to applicable legislation.

Contaminated packaging:

Handle contaminated packages in the same way as the substance itself.
