Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

Endpoint:
oxidising liquids
Data waiving:
study technically not feasible
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with oxidising properties and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
Justification for type of information:
Aromatics, sulfonate groups and sulfonated (sulfur heterocyclic) aromatics as available in Ichthammol (as well as its related bituminosulfonates and sulfonated shale oils, respectively) are not associated with oxidizing properties. The classification procedure for “oxidizing properties”, therefore, does not have to be applied.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
Oxidising agents are chemical species that undergo a chemical reaction that removes one or more electrons from another atom. In oxidizing reactions with oxygen actually involved oxygen is usually transferred to a substrate. Common oxidising agents are e.g. oxygen O2, hydrogen peroxide H2O2, sulfuric acid H2SO4, hypochlorites –OCl, etc.

Aromatics, sulfonate groups and sulfonated (sulfur heterocyclic) aromatics as available in Ichthammol (as well as its related bituminosulfonates and sulfonated shale oils, respectively) are not associated with oxidizing properties.
