Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The substance is a non-flammable inorganic solid. It cannot react with oxygen, and thus cannot be ignited.

The calcium metal ion in calcium difluoride is already present in the highest possible oxidation state. Fluoride cannot be oxidised by oxygen because fluorine is a more electronegative element than oxyen. As a consequence, it is clear that calcium difluoride cannot react with the oxygen in air, and hence, is not combustible.

Furthermore, experience in handling confirms that the substance is stable in contact with water and in contact with air for prolonged periods of time.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
non flammable
