First-aid measures

General advice: Take off immediately all contaminated clothing.

Inhalation: Move to fresh air. Give oxygen. If breathing has stopped, apply artificial respiration. Keep under medical surveillance. In case of problems : Hospitalise.

Skin contact: Wash off immediately with soap and plenty of water. If significant contact: Keep under medical surveillance. Hospitalise.

Eye contact: Wash immediately, abundantly and thoroughly with water. If irritation persists, consult an ophthalmologist.

Ingestion: Do NOT induce vomiting. Hospitalise.

Protection of first-aiders: In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment. Protective suit

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: Foam, Dry powder, Carbon dioxide (CO2)

Unsuitable extinguishing media: High volume water jet

Specific hazards: Thermal decomposition giving flammable and toxic products, Hydrogen sulphide, Sulphur oxides, Carbon oxides

Specific methods: Cool containers / tanks with water spray. In case of fire, remove exposed containers

Special protective actions for fire-fighters: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective suit.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:

Prohibit contact with skin and eyes and inhalation of vapours. Evacuate non-essential staff and those not equipped with individual protection apparatus. Use personal protective equipment. In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment

Environmental precautions:

Do not release into the environment. Do not let product enter drains. Dam up with sand or inert earth (do not use combustible materials).

Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up:

Recovery: Pump into a labelled inert emergency tank Absorb the remainder with an inert absorbent material. After cleaning, flush away traces with water. recover waste water for processing later.

Elimination: Destroy the product by incineration (in accordance with local and national regulations). Dispose rinse water as waste water.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:

Technical measures/Precautions:

Storage and handling precautions applicable to products: Liquid. Harmful. Sensitizing. Dangerous for the environment

Provide appropriate exhaust ventilation at machinery. Provide showers, eye-baths. Provide self-contained breathing apparatus nearby. Well ventilate empty vats and tanks before entering.

Hygiene measures: Prohibit contact with skin and eyes and inhalation of vapours. When using do not eat or drink.

Wash hands after handling. Remove contaminated clothing and protective equipment before entering eating areas.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:

Keep containers tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place. Provide a catch-tank in a bunded area. Provide impermeable floor.

Incompatible products: Strong oxidizing agents, Strong acids

Packaging material:

Recommended: Stainless steel, Polyethylene, Polypropylene, Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)

To be avoided: Rubber, Plastic materials

Specific use:

the substance/product is registered with strictly controlled conditions as defined in Article 18(4) of Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 (REACH Regulation) and must therefore be handled as such.

Exposure controls / personal protection

CONTROL PARAMETERS:

Exposure Limit Values       Contains no substances with occupational exposure limit values.

EXPOSURE CONTROLS:

This substance must be handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with  REACH regulation  Article 18(4).

Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management systems must be available at each Manufacturing/using site.

Written confirmation of application of strictly controlled conditions has been received from every affected downstream manufacturer/user of this substance.

General protective measures:       Use high inegrity methods of material loading and unloading. Investigate engineering techniques to reduce exposures. Ensure sufficient air exchange and/or exhaust in work areas. Routine monitoring and inspection for leaks to reduce fugitive emissions.

Personal protective equipment:

Respiratory protection:       Where airborne exposure is likely wear suitable respiratory equipment.

If potential for significant exposure : Self contained Breathing Apparatus

Hand protection:       Splash contact, intermittent and prolonged : Gloves nitrile rubber with thickness: 1,2 mm

Eye protection:       Safety glasses

Skin and body protection: At the workplace, wear combination with delayed penetration. For intervention at incident wear impervious clothing, anti-acid suit.

Environmental exposure controls : Do not release into the environment. In case of waste wate, use etchniques to minimize the emissions : incineration or any treatment to minimize the level of release (ex WWTP).

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity & Stability: The product is stable under normal handling and storage conditions.

Conditions to avoid: Avoid storing in moist and warm conditions. To avoid thermal decomposition, do not overheat.

Materials to avoid: Strong acids, Strong oxidizing agents, Hydrogen peroxide, Nitric acid, Hypochlorites.

Hazardous decomposition products:

Thermal decomposition giving flammable and toxic products, Hydrogen sulphide, Sulphur oxides, Carbon oxides

Disposal considerations

Disposal of product: Do not let product enter drains.  Destroy the product by incineration (in accordance with local and national regulations).
