Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The ready biodegradability of the test substance was assessed according to OECD Test Guideline 301 F. There was no biodegradation after 28 days and the test substance is therefore considered not readily biodegradable.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
under test conditions no biodegradation observed

Additional information

The ready biodegradability of the test substance was assessed according to OECD Test Guideline 301 F. The test substance undergoes no biodegradation after 28 days under the test conditions.

The test substance should be regarded as not readily biodegradable according to this test.

At the concentration used in the test (100 mg/L) the test substance is not inhibitory to the micro-organisms.

Degradation of sodium benzoate exceeds 40 % after 7 days and 65 % after 14 days: The activity of the inoculums is thus verified and the test is considered as valid.
