Registration Dossier

Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data

First-aid measures

General information: Seek medical assistance if discomfort continues.

After inhalation: Leave the danger zone. Immediately remove to fresh air. Consult a physician afterwards.

After contact with skin: Rinse skin immediately with copious amounts of water. Immediately remove contaminated clothing. Consult a physician if any symptoms develop.

After contact with eyes: Rinse immediately with gently running water for 15 minutes, maintaining eyelids open. Consult at once an ophthalmologist or a physician.

After ingestion: If swallowed, seek medical advice immediately.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: foam, dry powder, water spray jet.

Extinguishing media that must not be used for safety reasons: Full water jet, carbon dioxide.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture: carbon oxides.

Advice for firefighters:

- Special protective equipment for firefighting: Wear full protective suit. Use self-contained breathing apparatus.

- Further information: Cool container and metallic parts with a water spray jet.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipmet and emergency procedures: Wear personal protective equipment. Unprotected persons must be kept away. Avoid dust formation.

Environmental precautions: Do not allow to enter drains or waterways.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up: Take up mechanically. Place for disposal in tightly closed containers. Containers in which spilt substance has been collected must be adequately labelled.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:

- Advice on safe handling: Keep container tightly closed. Use only in well ventilated areas.

- Hygiene measures: Do not breathe dust. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Ensure sufficient exhaust ventilation. At work do not eat, drink, smoke or take drugs.

- Advice on protection against fire and explosion: Organic products which are intentionally or unintentionally in powdered form have, in principle, the possibility of creating a dust explosion hazard. Avoid formation of dust. Keep away from sources of ignition. Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Dust explosion class: ST3 Capable of dust explosion.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:

- Further information on storage conditions: Keep container tightly closed and dry in a coll, well-ventilated place.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Exposure controls:

- Appropriate engineering controls: When practicable, the material should be handled in enclosed or contained processes, a properly operating laboratory hood or with other effective local exhust ventilation.

- General protective measures: Observe the usual precautions for handling chemicals.

- Respiratory protection: Use respiratory protection equipment like effective dust mask P2 (according to EEC-directive 89/686).

- Hand protection: Nitrile rubber gloves. These types of protective gloves are offered by various manufacturers. Please note the manufacturers' detailed statements, especially about the minimum thickness and the minimum breakthrough time. Consider also the particular working conditions under which the gloves are being used. With solid dry substances permeation is not to be expected, therefore the breakthrough-time for this protective glove has not been measured.

- Eye protection: tightly fitting safety glasses

- Body protection: protective clothing

Stability and reactivity

Chemical stability: Stable.

Possibility of hazardous reactions: The product is not a dust explosion risk as supplied; however the build-up of fine dust can lead to a risk of dust explosions. There is no evidence that the product produces flammable gases in contact with water. The product has no corrosive-to-metals properties.

Conditions to avoid: None known.

Incompatible materials: not known.

Hazardous decomposition products: When used and handled as intended, none.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods:

- Product: Incineration in an approved, controlled furnace. Observe: fire hazard data, physicla and corrosion data.

- Uncleaned packaging: For disposal local regulation is binding.
