Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
short-term toxicity to fish
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2008
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method C.1 (Acute Toxicity for Fish)
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
deviations were considered as uncritical
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 203 (Fish, Acute Toxicity Test)
Deviations:
yes
Remarks:
deviations were considered as uncritical
Principles of method if other than guideline:
Deviations:
1) The temperature was higher than stated in the guideline. Because no mortality occured in the treatments, this deviation was stated as uncritical.
2) One fish died in the control. In the EU method, the death of one fish is regarded as acceptable. As no fish had died in all treatments, the deviation was considered as uncritical, too.
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Analytical monitoring:
yes
Vehicle:
yes
Test organisms (species):
Danio rerio (previous name: Brachydanio rerio)
Test type:
static
Water media type:
freshwater
Limit test:
no
Total exposure duration:
96 h
Reference substance (positive control):
no
Duration:
96 h
Dose descriptor:
NOEC
Effect conc.:
22.5 mg/L
Nominal / measured:
nominal
Conc. based on:
test mat.
Basis for effect:
mortality (fish)
Duration:
96 h
Dose descriptor:
LC50
Effect conc.:
> 22.5 mg/L
Nominal / measured:
nominal
Conc. based on:
test mat.
Basis for effect:
mortality (fish)
Sublethal observations / clinical signs:

Test system:

Species:        Danoi rerio Hamiton-Buchanan

Age:              sexually immature young fish, length 1 to 3 cm

Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
LC50 (96 h) > 22.5 mg/L
NOEC (96 h) = 22.5 mg/L
Executive summary:

At the limit of solubility in water, the test item did not show any effect on the viability of the test system.

EC50> 22.5 mg/L, no acute aquatic hazard, category 1 classification.

Description of key information
