First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures:

In all cases keep  the victim at physical and mental rest and warm. In all serious events and always in case of eye contact, seek for medical help.

Inhalation:

Breake the exposure, remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. Call a physician immediately.

Skin contact:

Take off immediately contaminated clothing and flush affected area with plenty of water. Immediate medical treatment is necessary.

Eye contact:

Remove contact lens and rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes. Call a physician immediately.

Ingestion:

Rinse the mouth with clean water, make him drink  0,1-0,2 l of water, do not induce vomiting, seek for medical help.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media:

Water spray, foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide.

Extinguishing media which shall not be used for safety reasons:

Not known.

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture:

Development of hazardous gases or vapours possible in the event of fire.

In case of burning, carbon oxides, chloromethane, hydrogen chloride are formed.

Advice for firefighters:

Wear self contained breathing apparatus and clothing protective against chemicals.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:

Wear respiratory protection. Avoid breathing vapors, mist or gas. Ensure adequate ventilation. Remove all sources of ignition. Evacuate personnel to safe areas. Beware of vapours accumulating to form explosive concentrations. Vapours can accumulate in low areas.

Environmental precautions:

Avoid releasing to sewerage system, avoid contamination water sources, waste waters, soil and vegetation.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up:

Contain spillage, and then collect with non-combustible absorbent material, (e.g. sand, earth, vermiculite) and place in container for disposal according to local / national regulations. Residues neutralize with sodium hydroxide solution / ammonia solution in water and flush with plenty of water.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:

Avoid contact with eyes and skin.

Avoid inhaling of vapour or mist. Provide appropriate exhaust ventilation at places where vapour or mist can be formed.

Use personal protective equipment.

Do not eat, drink or smoke during the work and observe the personal hygiene principles.

Wash hands with water and soap before breaks and after work.

Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking.Take measures to prevent the build up of electrostatic charge.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities:

Store in original tightly closed packings in dry areas protected from direct weather conditions (light, heat, frost, moisture).

This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 17(3) for on-site isolated intermediates and, in case the substance is transported to other sites for further processing, the substance should be handled at these sites under the Strictly Controlled Conditions as specified in REACH regulation Article 18(4). Individual protection measures, such as personal protective equipment:

The type of protective equipment must be selected according to the concentration and amount of the dangerous substance at the specific workplace.

The resistance of the protective clothing to chemicals should be ascertained with the respective supplier.

Respiratory protection:   filter mask type ABEK

Hand protection:                  protective gloves (butyl rubber, 0.7 mm tickness, break through time >480 min),

      Eye/face protection:        tight protective goggles,

Skin protection:               protective clothing, apron, boots, cap.

Environmental exposure reduction:

Uncontrolled escape of substance/formulation into environment is to be avoided.

Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at each Manufacturing site.
