Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The log Kow of C20-22 alpha olefins has been measured as >6 for the major components

Key value for chemical safety assessment

at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

Webb (2001) tested a substance composed of C20-22 alpha olefins, it is therefore considered appropriate to read across from that test substance to icos-1-ene. The octanol water partition coefficient was determined following a standard method conducted to GLP and is therefore considered suitable as a key study for this endpoint. This value is supported by the calculated log Kow of 10.03 and 11.65 (USEPA, 2008; Karickhoff et al, 2009).
