In a 96-h acute toxicity study (Thiebaud H., 2000), according to the method C.1 of the European Directive 92/69/EC and to the OECD guideline 203, Danio rerio were exposed to 11-aminoundecanoic acid at nominal concentrations of 0 (control), 402, 482, 579, 694 and 833 mg a.i./L under static conditions.
The measured concentrations confirmed that the two highest tested concentrations were maintained above 80% of the corresponding nominal concentrations. As no mortality was observed at the highest tested concentration, the 96-h LC50 was above 833 mg a.i./L.
Sublethal effects were observed in some groups exposed to 11 -aminoundecanoic acid. But it was not possible to determine the EC50 and NOEC values based on sublethal effects due to lack of data.
Based on the results of this study, UNDECANOIC ACID, 11 -AMINO- is not classified as harmful to the freshwater fish tested in accordance with the Directive 67/548/EC and CLP criteria.
