Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

4,4'-isopropylidenebis[2-allylphenol] TK 11907, was evaluated for genotoxic potential in the standard bacterial reverse mutation test, in the mammalian cell gene mutation in vitro as well as in the in vitro mammalian chromosomes aberration test. The results was negative in all three tests in vitro.

Justification for selection of genetic toxicity endpoint
All three existing in vitro studies are considered as key value for the chemical safety assessment.

Short description of key information:
4,4'-isopropylidenebis[2-allylphenol] TK 11907 was evaluated for genotoxic potential in the standard bacterial reverse mutation test, in the mammalian cell gene mutation in vitro as well as in the in vitro mammalian chromosomes aberration test. The results was negative in all three tests.

Endpoint Conclusion: No adverse effect observed (negative)

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the above stated assessment of the genotoxic potential of 4,4'-isopropylidenebis[2-allylphenol] TK 11907,

(Ames test negative,in vitro mammalian cell gene mutation test negative, in vitro mammalian chromosomes aberration test negative), the substance is deemed non-genotoxic and accordingly does not need to be classified according to Council Directive 2001/59/EC (28th ATP of Directive 67/548/EEC) and accordingCLP (Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 Of The European Parliament And Of The Council)as implementation of UN-GHS in the EU.
