Key result
Duration:

Dose descriptor:
LC50
Effect conc.:
1.5 mg/L
Nominal / measured:
meas. (TWA)
Conc. based on:
test mat.
Basis for effect:
mortality (fish)
Details on results:
- Behavioural abnormalities:
- Size of test organism at the end of exposure for control: Total length: 2.2 ± 0.2 cm, Body Weight: 0.11 ± 0.02 g
- Mortality:
All the mortality of test organisms were confirmed at 48 hours observation after the start of exposure in 3.25 mg/L.
Minimum concentration causing 100% mortality at 96 hours was estimated as 3.25 mg/L. Maximum concentration causing no mortality at 96 hours was 0.727 mg/L. Number of dead fish in the control at the end of exposure was 0, which met the criterion for the validity of the test (ie. Not exceed one fish).

- Abnormal responses: Observed abnormal responses during exposure were lethargic, at the surface, muscle spasm, partial loss of equilibrium and reduced activity for 10% or more groups. No abnormal response was observed in the control.
- Any observations (e.g. precipitation) that might cause a difference between measured and nominal values: The test solutions in all test levels were colorless and clear at the start and before the renewal. The concentration maintenance rate of the test item was 69.9 to 103%.

Results with reference substance (positive control):
- Results with reference substance valid? yes
- LC50: 96-hour LC50 0.29 mg/L
- Other: This value was within the stipulated range (mean ± S.D.: 0.13-0.89 mg/L, n=64) to background data in this test facility.
Reported statistics and error estimates:
The LC50 of 48, 72 and 96 hours were calculated by Binomial test.
For 24hours, the LC50 was estimated as "> the highest test concentration" since the mortality over 50% was not observed.
Validity criteria fulfilled:
yes
Conclusions:
The 96-hour LC50 of the test item for Medaka was 1.50 mg/L.
Executive summary:

This study was conducted in order to estimate the 96 h LC50 of the test item on the test organisms (Medaka) at less than the solubility of the test item in dilution water based on OECD 203. The definitive study was conducted semi-static regime (renewal every 24 hours, closed system without headspace) with five test concentrations of 80, 40, 20, 10 and 5.0% as stock solution content (3.25, 1.62, 0.727, 0.395 and 0.175 mg/L as measured concentration),and a control. As a result, 96-hour LC50 was 1.50 mg/L. Minimum concentration causing 100% mortality at 96 hours was estimated as 3.25 mg/L. Maximum concentration causing no mortality at 96 hours was 0.727 mg/L.
