Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

A 72-hour EC50 value of >684 mg/l and NOEC of 44 mg/l, based on geometric mean measured concentrations, have been determined for the effects of the silanol reaction product, trimethylsilanol, on growth rate of Scenedesmus subspicatus, in accordance with OECD guideline 201.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

No reliable data are available for the registration substance trimethylsilane (CAS 993-07-7). However, reliable test results are available for the silanol reaction product of the test substance, trimethylsilanol (CAS 1066-40-6), upon which the hazard assessment is based.

A 72-hour EC50 value of >1053 mg/l and NOEC of 70 mg/l have been determined for the effects of the trimethylsilanol on growth rate of Selenastrum capricornutum (new name: Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata) based on initial measured concentrations of the test substance. When expressed relative to mean measured concentrations the equivalent values are: EC50 >750 mg/l and NOEC 50 mg/l.
