Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
water solubility
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2 April 2012
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: Acceptable, well-documented study report which meets basic scientific principles.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
other: ASTM D 1722-09
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The test method, ASTM D 1722-09, Standard Test Method for Water Miscibility of Water-Soluble Solvents, is written specifically for acetone, isopropanol, and methanol, but is suitable for testing most water-soluble compounds. The method qualitatively detects water-immiscible impurities present in the test specimen. However, it is not a generally suitable test for substances which are completely water miscible and a formal test method for completely water miscible test substances is not reported. It was decided to determine the solubility of the test substance in water to a minimum of 90% by weight.
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
other: Standard Test Method for Water Miscibility of Water-Soluble Solvents
Water solubility:
> 900 g/L
Temp.:
23.5 °C
Remarks on result:
other: pH not given.
Conclusions:
Interpretation of results (migrated information): very soluble (> 10000 mg/L)
The test substance is capable of being mixed with water in any ratio.
Executive summary:

The water solubility of the test substance was determined according to ASTM D 1722-09, Standard Test Method for Water Miscibility of Water-Soluble Solvents (written specifically for acetone, isopropanol, and methanol). It was decided to determine the solubility of the test substance in water to a minimum of 90% by weight. The test substance is capable of being mixed with water in any ratio.

Description of key information

The test substance is capable of being mixed with water in any ratio.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Water solubility:
900 g/L
at the temperature of:
23.5 °C

Additional information

The water solubility of the test substance was determined according to ASTM D 1722-09, Standard Test Method for Water Miscibility of Water-Soluble Solvents (written specifically for acetone, isopropanol, and methanol). It was decided to determine the solubility of the test substance in water to a minimum of 90% by weight. The test substance is capable of being mixed with water in any ratio.

For safety assessment, this information is described as >900 g/l at 23.5 °C.
