Description of key information

According to its physico-chemical properties and the Koc value of 4.5, potassium cyanate is not expected to be distributed into sediment. In view of the irrelevant adsorption of potassium cyanate to sediment it can be assumed that in such tests the exposure through sediment pore water does not differ significantly from that to potassium cyanate in the overlaying water and that hazards resulting from uptake of sediment can be excluded. The same holds true for the metabolites of slow potassium cyanate degradation, as those are also very well water soluble.
