Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The test substance 4,4’-Difluorbenzophenon was tested in the Acute Daphnia Toxicity Test according to the OECD Guideline for the Testing of Chemicals No. 202 (April 2004) using Daphnia magna (Straus) as test organism. The experiment was carried out as a static test, i.e. the test substance preparations were not exchanged for the whole exposure period of 48 hours. The test was performed with test substance preparations of nominal 6.25; 12.5; 25; 50; 100 mg test substance/L M4 medium. The EC50value after 48 hours of exposure was 32.40 mg/L and the NOEC was 12.50 mg/L, respectively, based on nominal concentrations. Based on analytically determined concentrations, the EC50 value was 8.96 mg/L and the NOEC was 4.70 mg/L, respectively.

In a second study Daphnia magna was exposed to the test substance at nominal concentrations ranging from 0.065 to 7.9 mg/L  according to OECD TGD 202. The 48 h EC50 resulting from this study was 3.7 mg/L (based on mean measured test concentrations).

Additional information

As both studies are reliable without restrictions and as the EC50 values are in the same order of magnitude the geometric mean of both EC50 values was considered as key value (5.68 mg/L).
