Administrative data
First-aid measures
Inhalation
- Remove to fresh air.
- Oxygen or artificial respiration if necessary
- If symptoms persist, call a physician.
Eye contact
- Rinse thoroughly with plenty of water, also under the eyelids
- If eye irritation persists, consult a specialist.
Skin contact
- Wash off with soap and water.
- If symptoms persist, call a physician.
Ingestion
- If symptoms persist, call a physician.
- Clean mouth with water and drink afterwards plenty of water.
- Do not induce vomiting.

Inhalation
- In case of higher concentrations: Asphyxia, restlessness, Dizziness, Drowsiness, May cause cardiac arrhythmia.
- Repeated exposure: Liver injury may occur.
Skin contact
- Prolonged skin contact may defat the skin and produce dermatitis.
Eye contact
- slight irritation
Ingestion
- No reported cases of intoxication in man.

Suitable extinguishing media
- Use extinguishing measures that are appropriate to local circumstances and the surrounding environment.

- The product is not flammable.
- Hazardous decomposition products formed under fire conditions.
- Gas/vapours combustion possible in presence of air in very particular conditions (see section 9 and/or consult the producer).
Special protective actions for fire-fighters
- Fire fighters must wear fire resistant personnel protective equipment.
- Wear chemically resistant over suits.
- Evacuate personnel to safe areas.
- Protect intervention team with a water spray as they approach the fire.
- Clean contaminated surface thoroughly.
- Keep containers and surroundings cool with water spray.

Advice for non-emergency personnel
- Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so.
- Keep away from Incompatible products.
Advice for emergency responders
- Immediately evacuate personnel to safe areas.
- Keep people away from and upwind of spill/leak.
- Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective suit.
- The product evaporates readily.
- Vapours are heavier than air and can cause suffocation by reducing oxygen available for breathing.
- Suppress (knock down) gases/vapours/mists with a water spray jet.
- Avoid spraying the leak source.
- Cover the spreading liquid with foam in order to slow down the evaporation.
- Avoid skin contact with leaking liquid (danger of frostbite).
- Ventilate the area.
Environmental precautions
- Discharge into the environment must be avoided.
- Inform the responsible authorities in case of gas leakage, or of entry into waterways, soil or drains.
Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up
- Dam up.
- Soak up with inert absorbent material.
- Prevent product from entering drains.
- Keep in properly labelled containers.
- Keep in suitable, closed containers for disposal.

This substance is handled under Strictly Controlled Conditions in accordance with REACH regulation Article 17(3) for on-site isolated intermediates and, in case the substance is transported to other sites for further processing, the substance should be handled at these sites under the Strictly Controlled Conditions as specified in REACH regulation Article 18(4).
Site documentation to support safe handling arrangements including the selection of engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment controls in accordance with risk-based management systems is available at each manufacturing site.
Written confirmation of application of Strictly Controlled Conditions has been received from every affected Distributor and Downstream Processor/User of the Registrant’s intermediate.

Individual protection measures
Respiratory protection
- Use respirator when performing operations involving potential exposure to vapour of the product.
- Respirator with a vapour filter (EN 141)

- Self-contained breathing apparatus in medium confinement/insufficient oxygen/in case of large uncontrolled emissions/in all circumstances when the mask and cartridge do not give adequate protection.

Disposal considerations
Waste disposal methods
- In accordance with local and national regulations.
- Refer to manufacturer/supplier for information on recovery/recycling.
- Must be incinerated in a suitable incineration plant holding a permit delivered by the competent authorities.
- The incinerator must be equipped with a system for the neutralisation or recovery of HCl and the elimination of heavy metals.
Contaminated packaging
- Where possible recycling is preferred to disposal or incineration.
- To avoid treatments, as far as possible, use dedicated containers.
