Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Hydrolysis

The Hydrolysis rate constant of Hydroxyaluminium distearate is estimated to be 0.0000000000430498 cm3/molecule-sec at half-life of 2.981hrs. The estimated half-life of the substance indicates that the substance Hydroxyaluminium distearate is moderately hydrolysable.

Biodegradation in water: screening tests

Biodegradation in water was observed for 28 days according to the OECD guideline TG 301 F. BSB was the parameter measured.40 % degradation rats was observed in 28 days therefore, the degradation in water for aluminum distearate (300-92-5) was found to be 40% in 28 days of observation.

Biodegradation in water and sediment: simulation tests

Half life period of Hydroxyaluminium distearate in water is observed to be 37.5 days (900 hrs.) while in sediment it is 337.5 days (8100 hrs). Based on these half life values of Hydroxyaluminium distearate , it is concluded that the chemical is not persistent in water and sediment.

Biodegradation in soil

EPI Suite has estimated that Hydroxyaluminium distearate is expected to be found not predominantly in soil and its not persistence estimate is based on its transformation in this medium. Its half-life in soil, 75 days (1800 hrs), does not exceeds the threshold of 120 days as per Annex XIII of REACH.

Therefore, Hydroxyaluminium distearate is estimated to be not persistent in the soil environment.

Bioaccumulation: aquatic / sediment

The estimated bioconcentration factor (BCF) for Hydroxyaluminium distearate is 3.162 L/kg, that does not exceed the bioconcentration threshold of 2000. Thus it is concluded that Hydroxyaluminium distearate is not expected to bioaccumulate in the food chain because it does not exceed the BCF criteria.

Adsorption / desorption

The soil adsorption coefficient (Koc) value of Hydroxyaluminium distearate is estimated to be 134000000 L/kg, indicating that it is has a high sorption to soil and sediment and therefore have negligible migration potential to groundwater.
