First-aid measures

Eyes:

Immediately flush eyes with water and continue washing for several minutes. Obtain medical attention if discomfort persists.

Skin:

Remove contaminated clothing and shoes, wash before reuse. Rinse affected skin with copious amounts of water, using a mild cleaning agent. Obtain medical attention if contact has been widespread and prolonged, or if irritation persists.

Ingestion:

Do not induce vomiting. If the victim is conscious rinse mouth with water and give two glasses of milk or water at once. Obtain medical attention in all cases.

Inhalation:

Remove from exposure and move to fresh air immediately. If not breathing, give artificial respiration do not give mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. Obtain medical attention immediately.

Fire-fighting measures

General Information:

Vapours may form an explosive mixture with air. During a fire, irritating and highly toxic gases may be generated by thermal decomposition or combustion. Containers may explode in the heat of a fire. Vapour may be ignited by static sparks, flammable liquid and vapour. Storage tanks are earthed to avoid sparks as points of ignition.

Protective Equipment for Fire-fighters:

Body covering protective clothing, full "turn out" gear

Self contained breathing apparatus.

Extinguishing Media

For Large Fires:

-Use alcohol-type foam or universal-type foams.

For  Small Fires:

-Dry chemical or carbon dioxide.

Do not use:

- Water jets

Accidental release measures

Personal Precautions:

-Use proper personal protective equipment in an accident and evacuate unnecessary personnel. Eliminate sources of ignition and avoid all contact with material.

Environmental Precautions:

- Prevent from entering sewer system, surface water or soil.

Spills and Leaks

-Absorb small spills with an inert material e.g. vermiculite, sand or earth, then place in a suitable container.

-Dike large spills to contain spill and pump excess material into a suitable container.

- Avoid run off into waterways.

- Remove all sources of ignition and use spark-proof tools.

Handling and storage

Handling precautions:

- Wear recommended personal protection equipment.

- Warn personnel about the dangers of the product.

- Keep container tightly closed.

- Take precautionary measures against static discharges.

- Wash thoroughly after handling.

-Use adequate ventilation.

- Avoid contact with skin or clothes.

- Avoid inhalation or ingestion.

Storage requirements:

- The test material is normally stored in pressurised tanks under nitrogen blanketing, which are fitted with level sensors.

- Tanks are earthed to avoid sparks as points of ignition.

- Delivered in stainless steel iso tankers.

- Store in a cool, dry place.

- Keep away from all sources of ignition.
