Additional information

A 48-hour OECD 202 study was conducted to determine the acute toxicity of hexyl acetate to Daphnia magna.

Following a range-finding test, Daphnia magna were exposed to the test substance at initial measured concentrations of 1.0, 1.8, 3.2, 5.6, 14, 25, 45, 78 and 141 mg/l for 48 hours. Conditions were semi-static and the test media were changed after 24 hours. Test temperature was 21 -22oC.

Observations for immobilization or any adverse effects were made at 24 and 48 hours after test initiation. Dissolved oxygen and pH were measured at the start and termination of the test. Water temperature was measured daily.

The 48-hour EC50 was found to be 9.1 mg/l, and the NOEC was determined to be 0.84 mg/l based on time-weighted mean concentrations.
