Azodicarbonamide (CAS No. 123-77-3) is a synthetic chemical that exists at ambient temperature as a yellowish crystalline solid. It is poorly soluble in water at 20 °C (33 mg/litre), although it is slightly soluble in hot water. It is insoluble in many organic solvents, but it is soluble in N,N-dimethylformamide and dimethylsulfoxide. It has a very low vapour pressure (2 × 10–8 Pa at 20 °C). Its surface tension is 72.0 mN/m.

The relative density of Azodicarbonamide was found to be D204 1.61. Azodicarbonamide was found to have a log10Pow value of less than 1.0.

Azodicarbonamide is considered to be non-oxidising and non-explosive.

The conversion factors for azodicarbonamide at 20 °C and 101.3 kPa are as follows:

1 mg/m3 = 0.21 ppm

1 ppm = 4.8 mg/m3
