Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The vapour pressur was calculated using MPBWIN v1.43 as part of EPISuite v4.00 using measured melting and boiling points as input parameters. The vapour pressure at 25°C was determined to be 0.0127 Pa by using a modified Grain method.

Measured data are related for the shorter and longer chain homologue derivatives Methyl- and Propylparaben. Both measured values were determined in guideline studies partially following GLP procedures. The measured data of the homologue derivatives are less than the calculated vapour pressure of Ethylparaben itself. A measured value of Ethylparaben would be expected to lie between the two measured values of the homologues. Thus, the calculated vapour pressure can be assumed as a worse case assumption and was therefore used as the key parameter for chemical safety assessment.
