Main study - auto-ignition temperature of the test susbtance

The estimated auto-ignition temperature in the preliminary test was 270°C.

Test   Volume (µl)  Auto-ignition temp (ºC)  Ignition delay (s)  Colour of the flame  Minimum auto-ignition temp(ºC)
70  262 25 orange/blue  257
  140 257 40 orange/blue
  200 258 27 orange/blue
 2 50 262 25 orange/blue   261
100 261 16 orange/blue
  150 262 19 orange/blue
 3 125 260 15 orange/blue   255
250 255 25 orange/blue
  300 258 18  orange/blue

Ignition of the test substance within 5 minutes after introduction was observed with each sample volume and with each test a minimum auto-ignition temperature was obtained. The maximum deviation between the three values was < 10°C. According to the guidelines, no further testing was required.

The lowest temperature at which ignition of the test substance occurred was 255°C, which is also the auto-ignition temperature if rounded down to the nearest 5°C.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The test substance is auto-ignitable with an auto-ignition temperature at 992.4 and 994.3 hPa of 255ºC.
Executive summary:

The test was performanced according to EU method A.15, DIN method 51794 and IEC standard 79-4. A commercially available auto-ignition temperature apparatus was used for the determination of the degree of auto-ignitability of the substance. The test substance is auto-ignitable with an auto-ignition temperature 255ºC.
