Four guideline ready biodegradation studies are available to two different methods. Two were duplicate determinations to the same protocol. In a closed bottle test, the substance reached 68% degradation after 28 days but did not meet the 10 day window criteria of 60%. A guideline and GLP ready biodegradation study that showed 80 -90% degradation by the end of the study and 80 -90% degradation at the end of the 10 day window. The modified sturm test (CO2 evolution) was repeated in duplicate in one study. Both tests showed degradation of >75% after 28 days but only one met the 10 day window criteria. The average of these two results did meet the 10 day criteria. Another study using this method showed 100% degradation after 28 days. It can be concluded from the information available that 2 -(2 -methoxyethoxy)ethanol is readily biodegradable and does meet the 10 day window. There is some evidence for a short time lag before degradation commences.
