Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Toxicity to algae: 72 hr EC50 >0.0022 mg/l and NOEC ≥0.0022 mg/l (measured) (highest concentration tested) (OECD 201), read-across from an analogous/structurally related substance, decamethyltetrasiloxane (L4, CAS 141-62-8).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

There are no reliable algae toxicity data available for tetradecamethylhexasiloxane (L6, CAS 107-52-8), therefore good quality data for an appropriate structural analogue, decamethyltetrasiloxane (L4, CAS 141-62-8), have been read across.

A 96-h E(L)C50 value of >0.0022 mg/l and NOEC of ≥0.0022 mg/l (measured) (highest concentration tested) have been determined for the effects of decamethyltetrasiloxane (L4, CAS 141-62-8) on growth rate of Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata. In view of the test media preparation method/exposure regime it is likely that the test organisms were exposed predominantly to the tested substance.

Refer to IUCLID Section 6 endpoint summary (CSR Section 7.0) for further information on the approach to chemical safety assessment for this registration substance, and justification for read-across used.
