Conclusions:
The residual rate of the test substance was more than 90% after 5 days in the test solution of pH 4.0, pH 7.0 and pH 9.0 at 50 ± 0.1°C. Therefore, it is considered that the half-life time of the test substance is over 1 year.

Description of key information

Hydrolysis (tetrahydrofurfuryl alcohol): >1 year at pH 4, 7 and 9 and 50°C (OECD 111, preliminary study).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

A hydrolysis half-life of >1 year at pH 4, 7, 9 and 50°C was determined for the substance in a preliminary study in accordance with OECD 111 and in compliance with GLP. The result is considered to be reliable.

Since rate of hydrolysis is dependent on temperature (among other parameters), at ambient conditions (20 -25°C) the hydrolysis half-life is expected to be longer than 1 year.
