The 96-h LC50 of Allyl methacrylate in fathead minnow (Pimephales promelas) was 0.61 mg/L. The 96 h LOEC was 0.52 mg/L.
Executive summary:

In a 96-h acute toxicity study (EC dir. 92/69/EEC) fathead minnow (Pimephales promelas) were exposed to Allyl methacrylate with nominal concentrations of 0.34, 0.75, 1.65, 3.64, 8.00 mg/l (test 1) and 0.80, 1.00, 1.20 mg/l (test 2) under flow through conditions. The 96-h LC50 was 0.61 mg/L. The 96 -h LOEC was 0.52 mg/L.

Additional information

The acute toxicity of ally methacrylate to fish was tested in a study following Directive 92/69/EEC, C.1. Pimephales promelas was exposed to the substance for 96 hours in a flow-through system. An LC50 of 0.61 mg/L based on measured concentrations was determined (Roehm GmbH, 2001). The test result is supported by two further tests on the acute toxicity of the substance to juvenile P. promelas. In a test following American Society for Testing and Materials recommendations, the toxicity to fish was tested in a flow-through system. At test termination after 96 hours a LC50 of 0.99 mg/L was detected (Russom et al. 1988). In a second study P. promelas were exposed in a static test system for 96 hours. An LC50 of 0.99 mg/L was determined (Geiger et al. 1984). Both test results refer to nominal concentrations.
