Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

The kinematic viscosity of 1, 3, 5-trimethylbenzene was experimentally determined to be 0.843 and 0.630 mm2/s at 20ºC and 50ºC, respectively. The dynamic viscosity was determined to 0.727 and 0.528 mPa.s at 20ºC and 50ºC, respectively. These values can be used for read-across for 1, 2, 4-trimethylbenzene

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Viscosity:
0.843 mPa · s (dynamic)
at the temperature of:
20 °C

Additional information

This study of Boelhouwer et al (1951) has a reliability rating of 2 because the source predates implementation of GLP and development of study guidelines, however the procedure and means of analysis suggest that the methodology was appropriate to evaluate the viscosity of an organic liquid substance. There is otherwise no information in the article to suggest that the data are invalid.
