Results and discussion

Flammable solids
Key result
Test procedure:
burning rate test: preliminary screening test
Remarks on result:
substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Interpretation of results:
GHS criteria not met
Conclusions:
The GLP study was performed according to EU method A.1 without deviations and therefore reliability of Klimisch 1 has been assigned. No ignition or burning through of the test item was observed during the preliminary screening test and hence, a full test is not necessary.
Executive summary:

The Flammability potential of the test substance was assessed in a GLP test according to EU method A.10 and UN-MTC procedure Test N.1 ‘Test method for readily combustible solids’. A preliminary screening test was performed to determine if propagation by burning with flame or smoldering occurs without wetted zone. The substance was formed into a powder train about 250 mm long by about 20 mm wide by about 10 mm high on a non-combustible, nonporous and low heat-conducting base plate. If propagation over 200 mm of the train occurs within a specified time then the full test program to determine the burning rate is carried out.

The test item melted on approach of the gas flame. No burning through of the test item was observed and hence, a full test is not necessary.
