Conclusion on classification

Short-term toxicity to fishThe 96 h NOEC, LC50 and LC100 were determined to be 1.5, 3.9, and 6 mg/L nominal.

Short-term toxicity to aquatic invertebratesThe 48 h NOEC, LOEC, and EC50 were determined to be 9.15, 18.23, and 18.84 mg/L based on geometric mean measured concentrations.

The 72h EC50 (growth rate) growth inhibition of cumyl hydroperoxide to Scenedesmus subspicatus

was 3,1mg/L. The NOEC was 1,0 mg/L for growth rate.

The ready biodegradability of cumene hydroperoxide was investigated in a study conducted according to OECD Guideline 301 B (Ready Biodegradability: CO2 Evolution Test). The test substance proved to be not readily biodegradable (3% biodegradation after 28 d).

According to 67/548 CEE criteria, 1-methyl-1-phenylethyl hydroperoxide is classified as R51/53 and Aquatic Chronic Category 2 with regards to CLP criteria.
