Additional information

The determination of the biodegradation of retinyl palmitate was conducted in three different studies according to EU Directive 79/831/EEC Annex V part C and OECD Guideline 301 F, respectively. The results of all three studies showed a degradation by activated sludge of 40 – 60%. The variation between the test systems consist by the use of different inoculums. Nevertheless, retinyl palmitate can be assessed as moderately/partly biodegradable.
