Rate constant with OH radicals = (7.27 ± 0.4) x 10^-12 cm cu/mol sec at 297K (24°C)

Information regarding the atmospheric degradation of chlorotrifluoroethylene (CTFE) was sourced from 5 review articles of

Klimisch-2 reliability.

All the studies agree on the fact that the reactions of CTFE in the atmosphere are very fast which indicates a very low persistence of CTFE in the atmospheric compartment.

In particular the rate constant of the reaction of CTFE with OH radicals is of 10^-12 cm3 molecule^-1s^-1 order of magnitudo and that its atmospheric life time is of few days (2 -3 days).

In respect to the reaction with ozone a rate constant of 1.6 X 10^-20 cm cu/mol sec and a half-life for this of 715 days at an ozone concentration of 7 X 10+11 mol/cm cu has been estimated for CTFE.

The values selected as key information were sourced from the article of Abbatt J.P.D. et al. which reports the rate constant of the reaction of CTFE with OH radicals at ambient temperature.
