The substance is poorly biodegradable according to OECD criteria.

Three studies on ready biodegradability, two studies on inherent biodegradability and a BOD5-study are available for the biodegradation assessment of the test item. The results of all three ready biodegradability studies demonstrate that the test substance is not readily biodegradable (< 10% degradation in an OECD 301B study (BASF SE 22G0436/11G095), 22% degradation in an OECD 301E study (BASF 1900397, 1990) and 33% in a study according to ISO7827 (LGU 1990)).

Additional information is given from two OECD 302B tests. After 28 days a biodegradation of 63 % and 67% was determined, respectively (BASF 1900397 and LGU 1990).

Finally, there was only marginal oxygen consumption in a BOD5-test which substantiates the results of the ready tests (BASF 01501, 1987).

Based on these data, the test substance is considered to be poorly biodegradable and moderately eliminable from water.
