First-aid measures

General advice:

Take off immediately all contaminated clothing

Inhalation: Move to fresh air. Oxygen or artificial respiration if needed. Keep under medical surveillance. In case of problems : Hospitalise.

Skin contact: Wash immediately, abundantly and thoroughly with water. Frostbite : treat as thermal burns

Eye contact: Wash immediately, abundantly and thoroughly with water. If irritation persists, consult an ophthalmologist.

Protection of first-aiders: In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: Carbon dioxide (CO2), Dry powder

Unsuitable extinguishing media: Foam

Specific hazards: Extremely flammable, Possible re-ignition of vapours from a distance, Thermal decomposition giving flammable and toxic products, Hydrogen sulphide, Sulphur oxides, Carbon oxides

Specific methods: Cool containers / tanks with water spray. Prohibit all sources of sparks and ignition - Do not smoke.

Special protective actions for fire-fighters: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective suit.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures:

Prohibit all sources of sparks and ignition - Do not smoke. Avoid contact with the skin and the eyes. Prohibit inhalation of vapours

Evacuate non-essential staff and those not equipped with individual protection apparatus. Use personal protective equipment.

In case of leak, wear a self-contained breathing apparatus If possible position the leaking point uppermost If safe to do so, plug or seal off leak

Environmental precautions:

Do not release into the environment Pump into a labelled inert emergency tank.

Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up: Dam up with sand or inert earth (do not use combustible materials).

Recovery: Pump into a labelled inert emergency tank

Elimination: Destroy product by oxidation with dilute solutions of : Hydrogen peroxide sodium hypochlorite or Destroy the product by incineration (in accordance with local and national regulations).

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling:

Storage and handling precautions applicable to products: Liquefied gas extremely flammable forming explosive mixtures with air , toxic, dangerous for the environment  Provide appropriate exhaust ventilation at machinery. Provide showers, eye-baths. Provide self-contained breathing apparatus nearby. Well ventilate empty vats and tanks before entering.

Safe handling advice: Prohibit all sources of sparks and ignition - Do not smoke. Avoid the accumulation of gas at the lowest points. Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Do not use air for transfers. Open drum carefully as content may be under pressure. Keep well away from naked flames

Hygiene measures: Avoid contact with the skin and the eyes. Prohibit inhalation of vapours Smoking, eating and drinking should be prohibited in the application area.Wash hands after handling.Remove contaminated clothing and protective equipment before entering eating areas.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities: Keep containers tightly closed in a cool, well-ventilated place. Store away from heat and ignition sources. Provide a catch-tank in a bunded area Provide electrical earthing of equipment and electrical equipment usable in explosive atmospheres.Do not store above: 50 °C

Incompatible products: Acids, Bases, Mercurous oxide, Strong oxidizing agents

Packaging material:

Recommended: Ordinary steel, Stainless steel

Joints : polyethylene, Rilsan ®, polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)

To be avoided: Copper and copper alloys, Iron (non passified)
