REACH

New advice on using non-animal test methods

ECHA’s updated guidance gives advice on how to use non-animal test methods, which are now the default for many endpoints. Registrants are encouraged to take the changes into account when deciding their testing strategies.

Information from rejected confidentiality claims published more systematically

Since December 2016, data from dossiers with rejected confidentiality claims has been more systematically published in our chemicals database. The information is published with the bi-weekly updates of the database once the rejection decision has been sent to the registrant and the legal review period has passed.

Around 2 % of registration dossiers include claims for data to be kept confidential. From the claims submitted, 20 % are rejected as not justified under REACH.

New draft for REACH guidance update available

A new draft for updated ECHA guidance on REACH has been sent for the next consultation step:

  • Guidance on recommendations for nanomaterials applicable to QSARs and grouping of chemicals sent for CARACAL consultation

The new draft has been uploaded to the ongoing guidance consultations page on ECHA's website. No proposals for change were received from consultation of the Member State Committee (MSC), so the text of this draft is the same as that previously uploaded ECHA's website on 13 December 2016.

Potential registrants for the 2018 deadline may be interested in already viewing the new draft documents.
