ECHA is prioritising CMR substances for risk management

ECHA's new CMR report shows that companies are adhering well to the harmonised classification of substances which have carcinogenic, mutagenic or reprotoxic properties (CMRs). The report furthermore identifies over a thousand CMR substances that potentially merit further regulatory action such as harmonised classification and, where relevant, identification as a substance of very high concern. ECHA, together with Member State competent authorities, is now prioritising such substances for appropriate risk management actions.

Preconfigured IUCLID 5 available for applications for authorisation

ECHA has released a Preconfigured IUCLID 5 for Application for Authorisation (AfA) to support industry, in particular small and medium-sized companies (SMEs), in creating applications for authorisation.

This new way of providing IUCLID 5 aims to help companies that do not yet have IUCLID 5 installed, particularly SMEs, to prepare dossiers for applications for authorisation.

This substance is used in disinfectants and algaecides not intended for direct application to humans or animals, in in-can preservatives, preservatives for liquid-cooling and processing systems and metal-working fluid. There is currently no harmonised classification for this biocide active substance, and the dossier submitter is proposing classification for skin corrosion, skin sensitisation, carcinogenicity, germ cell mutagenicity and as hazardous to the aquatic environment. The final date for submitting comments is 6 March 2015.
