ECHA calls for expression of interest in testing use maps template

ECHA invites downstream users (DUs) and registrants' associations to test a newly developed and enhanced template for use maps in the context of the CSR/ES Roadmap. Use maps aim to help the dialogue between downstream users and registrants on how substances are used.  Interested testers, ideally those that together make up the necessary actors and steps in a supply chain, will be invited to an introductory webinar for additional information.

The concept of use maps was agreed by industry prior to the REACH 2010 registration deadline. The use maps help registrants to prepare structured and comprehensive chemical safety assessments as part of their registration dossiers. They also mean that downstream users will receive information in their extended safety data sheets that they can easily recognise and compare with their own situations of use.

Improving use maps as a basis for good quality chemical safety assessments (CSAs) is an activity that has since been integrated into the CSR/ES Roadmap second implementation plan, to take forward a series of related actions 2.1. 2.2 and 2.7. It has been presented and discussed during Exchange Network on Exposure Scenarios (ENES) events.

The use maps testing information package can be downloaded as a zip file from the related documents section in Action area 2.
