New REACH registration statistics available

The European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) is now publishing detailed statistics on the origin and types of REACH registration dossiers and registered substances. This will improve the understanding of the registration activity by the European public. ECHA will update the statistics every month.

Nina Cromnier new Chair of ECHA's Management Board

The ECHA Management Board elected Nina Cromnier, the Swedish member, as its new Chair on 27 September. She will take up the post on 1 October 2012 for a period of two years.

The C&L Inventory to contain all information on hazardous substances on the EU market

27 September 2012

The European Chemicals Agency has updated the public Classification and Labelling (C&L) Inventory with information on substances which notifiers have indicated as not classified. The Inventory also includes all notifications for EINECS substances.

Registrants and notifiers to update their dossiers according to the provisions of the second ATP to CLP

ECHA reminds companies that the classification, labelling and packaging provisions of the second ATP (Adaptation to Technical and scientific Progress) amending the CLP Regulation must be applied to substances by 1 December 2012.

Online toolkit for the new hazard pictograms

ECHA is partnering the EU-OSHA "Healthy Workplaces" campaign by promoting the safe use of chemicals. The two EU agencies jointly launched the online toolkit, which includes the film "Danger: chemicals!", a poster and a leaflet alerting employers and workers to the meaning of the new hazard pictograms introduced by the CLP Regulation. The online toolkit represents a practical response to the need for raising further awareness about the new danger signals, which was identified in ECHA's recent survey on "Communication on the Safe Use of Chemicals".
