A test according to guideline EU A.10 was conducted to determine the flammability of tungsten dioxide (WO2; > 99.8 % purity). In the preliminary test no ignition of WO2 could be observed. Therefore, further testing (-> burning rate test) was not required.

1. Measurement of flammability
1.1. Preliminary screening test
The test substance was formed into a powder train about 250 mm long by 20 mm wide by 10 mm high on a fireclay plate. A hot flame from a gas burner was applied to one end of the powder train for five minutes. There was no igniton observed.
1.2. Burning rate test
Since the test substance did not ignite it should not be considered as highly flammable and no further testing is required.
2. Result
The test substance WO2 (tungsten dioxide) is non-combustible.
Description of key information

In the safety data sheet tungsten dioxide is not considered to be highly flammable.
