Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

- Inhalation : Assure fresh air breathing. Place the victim in semi-seated position. Allow the victim to rest. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. Obtain medical attention if breathing difficulty and/or other complaints appear.

- Skin contact : Rinse immediately with plenty of water, for at least 5 minutes. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Continue to flush with lukewarm water for 15 minutes. Wash skin with mild soap and water. Obtain medical attention if ill effect or irritation develops.

- Eye contact : Rinse immediately with plenty of water, for at least 15 minutes. Obtain medical attention if pain, blinking, tears or redness persist.

- Ingestion : DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING. Rinse mouth. If swallowed, give 1 pint ofwater if victim completely conscious/alert. Seek medical advice.

- Emergency medical treatment : Treat symptomatically.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media

 - Suitable : Water. Dry chemical. Foam.

 - Not to be used : Carbon dioxide.

Special exposure hazards : Quantity of dust may be sufficient to burn in open air or explode if confined, when mixed with air and exposed to ignition source. Under fire conditions, highly hazardous fumes will be present: CO, CO2 & NOx

Flammable class : As for a numerous finely divided organic powders, there is a possibility of dust explosion.

May form flammable dust-air mixture.

Flammability (solid, gas) : No data available.

Surrounding fires : Apply water spray or fog to cool nearby equipment. Use water spray or fog for cooling exposed containers.

Protection against fire : Use self-contained breathing apparatus (cfr. EN 137) and standard firefighting gear (cfr. EN 469) when in close proximity to fire. Exercise caution when fighting any chemical fire.

Special procedures : None.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions : Avoid dust production. Wear self-contained breathing apparatus, and protective clothing. Keep public away from danger area.

Technical measures : Eliminate every possible source of ignition. Although no dust-explosion characteristics are known consider the product as possible dust-explosion hazard. Handle the product in closed equipment and if possible under an inert atmosphere. Sufficient local or general ventilation. . Earth the equipment and take enough time to remove the electrostatic charges.

Environmental precautions : Prevent entry to sewers and public waters.

After spillage and/or leakage : Sweep or shovel spills into appropriate container for disposal.

Handling and storage

General : Avoid dispersion as a dust cloud. Handle the product in closed equipment and if possible under an inert atmosphere. Sufficient local or general ventilation. Explosion proof electrical equipment . Earth the equipment and take enough time to remove the electrostatic charges. Do not use compressed air to handle the product. No naked lights. No smoking. Precautions in handling and storage : Use good housekeeping practices to avoid rendering dust airborne.

Handling : Avoid all unnecessary exposure. Do not breathe dust. Wear suitable protective clothing. Ensure prompt removal from eyes, skin and clothing. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety procedures. Wash hands and other exposed areas with mild soap and water before eating, drinking, smoking and when leaving work. Keep away from food, drink and animal feeding stuffs.

Storage : Keep container closed when not in use. Store in dry, well-ventilated area. May be stored at ambient temperature. Protect from high temperature. Protect from low temperatures. Eliminate every possible source of ignition. Keep away from food, drink and animal feeding stuffs.

Storage - away from : Sources of ignition. Open flame. Heat.

Suitable packaging : Use antistatic packing to store the product, to prevent electrostatic discharge when emptying the packing. The product is stored in UN certified packaging: a double PE liner, packed in a fibredrum (1G/X../S).

Exposure controls / personal protection

* Industrial hygiene : Open handling not recommended. Use an adapted installation for handling substances not yet fully tested in a closed system, so that the OEL of the product can be established. Emergency eye wash fountains and safety showers should be available in the immediate vicinity of any potential exposure.

* Personal protection

 - Respiratory protection : Wear a full face mask with an A2B2E2K2-P3 cannister against vapors and/or dust.

 - Skin protection : Wear a coverall type 5, specific for manipulation of solids (cfr. ISO 13982-1).

 - Eye protection : See respiratory protection.

 - Hand protection : Wear suitable synthetic gloves (Category 3, Class 3) resistant to chemical penetration (cfr. EN 374).

 - Ingestion : When using, do not eat, drink or smoke.

 - Others : Wear suitable safety shoes (cfr. EN 345 S2).
