Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Oxidising properties:
no

Additional information

According to the EC A.21 guideline, a liquid substance is to be considered as an oxidizer when:

a) a 1:1 mixture, by mass, of the substance and cellulose spontaneously ignites; or

b) a 1:1 mixture, by mass, of the substance and cellulose exhibits a mean pressure rise time less than or equal to the mean pressure rise time of a 1:1 mixture, by mass, of 65% (w/w) aqueous nitric acid and cellulose.

None of the components of the test substance does contain groups that act as an oxidizing agent. The oxygen and halogen atoms that are present in the molecular structure of the test substance are chemically bonded to carbon or hydrogen.

In conclusion, reaction mass of bis(2-chloroethoxy) methane and 1,15-dichloro-3,5,8,11,13-penta-oxa pentadecane and 1-(2-chloroethoxy) -2-(2-chloroethoxymethoxy) ethane has no oxidizing properties has no oxidising properties

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to the EC A.21 guideline, a liquid substance is to be considered as an oxidizer when:

a) a 1:1 mixture, by mass, of the substance and cellulose spontaneously ignites; or

b) a 1:1 mixture, by mass, of the substance and cellulose exhibits a mean pressure rise time less than or equal to the mean pressure rise time of a 1:1 mixture, by mass, of 65% (w/w) aqueous nitric acid and cellulose.

The purity and composition of the test substance is shown in and Appendix II. None of the components of the test substance does contain groups that act as an oxidizing agent. The oxygen and halogen atoms that are present in the molecular structure of the test substance are chemically bonded to carbon or hydrogen.

In conclusion, Reaction mass of bis(2-chloroethoxy) methane and 1,15-dichloro-3,5,8,11,13-penta-oxa pentadecane and 1-(2-chloroethoxy) -2-(2-chloroethoxymethoxy) ethane has no oxidizing properties.
