Reference
Endpoint:
relative self-ignition temperature (solids)
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
18 Jan-28 June 1991
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Remarks:
Also according to GLP
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.16 (Relative Self-Ignition Temperature for Solids)
Version / remarks:
1984
GLP compliance:
yes
Relative self-ignition temperature:
> 400 °C
Remarks on result:
other:
Remarks:
at atm. press. of ca.1013.0 hPa

A steady rise in temperature of both test substance and oven was observed during the test. There was a black residue in the cube after completation of the test.

Conclusions:
The test item does not possess autoflammable properties.
Executive summary:

The auto flammability of the test item was investigated according to the EC A.16 method in compliance with GLP. The test substance did not ignite, nor did its temperature exceed 400 °C during the test. The test substance does not therefore possess autoflammable properties under test conditions used.

Description of key information

> 400 °C at ca. 1013 hPa

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Autoflammability / Self-ignition temperature at 101 325 Pa:
400 °C

Additional information

The auto flammability of the substance was determined according to EEC Method A.16 (1984).
