First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures

General information:

Take persons to a safe place. Observe self-protection for first aid. Always seek medical advice in the event of contact with this

substance.

After inhalation:

Keep the patient calm. If unconscious place in stable sideways position. Protect against loss of body heat. If breathing stops,

administer artificial respiration. Seek medical advice immediately and clearly identify substance.

After contact with the skin:

Remove contaminated clothes at once. Wash off with plenty of water or water and soap immediately for 10-15 minutes. In serious

cases, use emergency shower immediately. Seek medical advice immediately and clearly identify substance.

After contact with the eyes:

Rinse immediately with plenty of water for 10-15 minutes. Keep eyelids well open to rinse the whole eye surface and eyelids with

water. Seek medical advice immediately and clearly identify substance. Continue to bathe eyes during transport to medical

practitioner.

After swallowing:

If conscious, give several small portions of water to drink. Do not induce vomiting. Seek medical advice immediately and clearly

identify substance.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

Any relevant information can be found in other parts of this section.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

After inhalation: treat as early as possible using cortisone spray. Medical checks necessary up to a latency period of at least 24

hours. In the event of 1st degree burns use corticoid-externa. In the case of 2nd degree burns, use symptomatic treatment.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media:

water mist , extinguishing powder , alcohol-resistant foam , carbon dioxide , sand .

Extinguishing media which must not be used for safety reasons:

water spray , water jet .

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

Hazardous combustion products: nitrous gases .

Advice for firefighters

Special protective equipment for fire fighting:

Use respiratory protection independent of recirculated air. Use tightly fitting chemical protection suit (see section Exposure controls/personal protection).

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures

Wear personal protection equipment (see section 8). Task force: Use tightly fitting chemical protection suit (see section Exposure controls/personal protection). Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Avoid inhaling mists and vapours. If material is released indicate risk of slipping.

Environmental precautions

Prevent material from entering surface waters, drains or sewers and soil. Contain any fluid that runs out using suitable material

(e.g. earth). Retain contaminated water/extinguishing water.

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

Do not flush away with water. For small amounts: Absorb with a liquid binding material such as diatomaceous earth and dispose

of according to local/state/federal regulations. Cover larger quantities by near waterless foam and take up in container. Exhaust

vapours.

Further information:

Eliminate all sources of ignition.

Reference to other sections

Relevant information in other sections have to be considered. This applies in particular for information given on personal

protective equipment (section 8) and on disposal (section Disposal considerations).

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

Precautions for safe handling:

Ensure adequate ventilation. Keep away from incompatible substances in accordance with section Stability and reactivity. Spilled substance

increases risk of slipping.

Precautions against fire and explosion:

Flammable vapors may accumulate and form explosive mixtures with air in containers, process vessels, including partial, empty

and uncleaned containers and vessels, or other enclosed spaces. Keep away from sources of ignition and do not smoke. Take

precautionary measures against electrostatic charging. Cool endangered containers with water.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Conditions for storage rooms and vessels:

none known

Advice for storage of incompatible materials:

not applicable

Further information for storage:

Protect against moisture. Store in original container only. Keep container tightly closed and store in a cool, well ventilated place.

Specific end use(s)

The aerosol limit specified is a recommendation should aerosol be formed during processing.

Exposure controls

Exposure in the work place limited and controlled

General protection and hygiene measures:

Do not breathe vapours. Avoid contact with eyes and skin. Do not eat, drink or smoke when handling.

Personal protection equipment:

Respiratory protection

gas mask filter ABEK . In case of long or strong exposure: positive pressure self contained breathing apparatus .

Hand protection

Gloves are required at all times when handling the material. The selection of appropriate gloves not only depends on the material,

but also on other quality characteristics, and may vary depending on the manufacturer. Please observe information from your

glove supplier in terms of permeability and breakthrough time. Recommendation: Protective gloves made of 5-layer laminate of

PE and EVOH (4H) , Protective gloves made of butyl rubber , protective gloves made of fluorinated rubber . Breakthrough time >

6 hours .

Eye protection

tight fitting protective goggles . Where there is risk of splashing: protective shield .

Skin protection

protective clothing . Where there is risk of splashing: apron .

Exposure to the environment limited and controlled

Prevent material from entering surface waters and soil. Normally neutralisation is required before waste water is introduced into

purification plants. Do not introduce large amounts into purification plants.

Further information for system design and engineering measures

Observe information in section Handling and Storage.

Stability and reactivity

Incompatible materials

Reacts with: water . Reaction causes the formation of: ammonia .

Hazardous decomposition products

By hydrolysis: ammonia .

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods

Material

Recommendation:

Dispose of according to regulations by incineration in a special waste incinerator. Observe local/state/federal regulations.

Uncleaned packaging

Completely discharge containers (no tear drops, no powder rest, scraped carefully). Containers may be recycled or re-used.

Observe local/state/federal regulations.

Waste Disposal Legislation Ref.No.(EC)

It is not possible to determine a waste code for this product in accordance with the European Waste Catalogue (EWC) since it is

only possible to classify it according to how it is used by the customer. The waste code is to be determined within the EU in liaison

with the waste-disposal operator.
