Description of key information

Additional information

3-MPA was assessed in a DOC Die-Away test under GLP by Thiebaud (1994) to be readily biodegradable after 28 days. Consequently, no further simulation testing on the biodegradability of 3-MPA and no study on its hydrolysis were necessary. As an additional information, hydrolysis of 3-MPA can not be expected to occur as there are no parts of the molecular structure of 3-MPA, that may have a susceptibility to hydrolysis.

Studies on bioaccumulation in water organisms and on adsorption of 3-MPA were considered to be not necessary as the substance has an experimentally determined log Kow far below 3.0 and thus a low potential for bioaccumulation and for adsorption, respectively.
