Additional information

Five ecotoxicology relevant studies were conducted for 2 -ethylaminoethanol. The lowest determined endpoint was based the Daphnia reproduction test that provided a NOEC of 3.2 mg/L. Suitable assessment factors have been applied to calculate PNECs for freshwater, marine water and STPs

The terrestrial toxicity compartment has been waived for 2-ethylaminoethanol on the grounds that exposure is not expected to occur and that 2-ethylaminoethanol is readily biodegradable. Under these circumstances, data for the effects of 2-ethylaminoethanol on the terrestrial compartment are considered unnecessary.

A 14 -day combined acute oral and IP study is available and an acute oral toxicity to the mouse, the lowest reported NOECoral was for the mouse (50 mg/kg)

Conclusion on classification

The lowest acute EC50value was 37.3 mg/L for the aquatic algae Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata and therefore the EC50is between 10 and <100 mg/L and therefore classification is not required

Based on the results of the Daphnia reproduction test the NOEC was considered to be 3.2 mg/L, 2 -ethylaminoethanol was considered to be readily biodegradable during testing and therefore is not expected to persist with the environment. Based on the NOEC of 3.2 mg/L classification is not required
