Additional information

The aquatic bioaccumulation factor (BCF) is predicted as 10.8 L/kg wet-wt based on the regression-based estimate by the QSAR tool BCFBAF v3.01 (EPIWIN software) by US-EPA (Chemservice GmbH, 2011). Another implicit method is the Arnot-Gobas method, which is based on the mechanistic first order principles, resulting in a BCF of 10.7 L/kg wet-wt.

Supporting information is given by a peer-reviewed database, which reports BCF vales < 1.7 (100 µg/L test material) and < 18 (10 µg/L test material) in Cyprinus carpio after 6 weeks exposure, conducted according to OECD Guideline 305C (cited in Japan HPV Challenge Program, 2010).

Concerning these results, the potential of benzalacetone to bioaccumulate in aquatic biota is very low.
