Description of key information

The hydrolysis as a function of pH was not measurable because of poor solubility in aqueous buffer solutions.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The hydrolysis as a function of pH of the test item was determined according to OECD guideline no. 111 [adopted on 12 May 1981] and EU test method C.7 [Directive 92/69/EEC, Official Joumal L 383 A 1992]. This test method is applicable only to water-soluble substances. The concentration of the test item in the buffer solutions should not exceed 0.01 M or half of the saturation concentration. However, the water solubility of the test item was estimated to be very low (< 1 mg/I). Therefore the solubility of the test item in standard buffer solutions of pH 4, 7 and 9 at 50 °C was tested with addition of less than 1 % of the water-miscible organic solvent acetonitrile and acetone, respectively. Two concentrations of the test item were employed (approx. 500 mg/L and approx. 50

mg/I) which would be sufficient to allow a determination of the decrease of the concentration of the test item by chromatographie means.

An appropriate amount of the test item was dissolved in acetonitrile and acetone, respectively, and the standard buffer solution was added. The mixture was stirred for 15 min, then kept at 50 °C for 18 h. The hydrolysis as a function of pH was not measurable because of poor solubility in aqueous buffer solutions.
