Conclusions:
The surface tension of a 1 g/L solution of platinum(II) tetraammine diacetate was determined to be 70.9 mN/m at 20 deg C. The test substance is not considered to be surface active under the criteria described in the Test Method Regulation (EU 440/2008).
Executive summary:

In a guideline study, conducted to GLP, the surface tension of a 1 g/L solution of platinum(II) tetraammine diacetate was evaluated by the ring method. The surface tension was determined to be 70.9 mN/m at a temperature of 20 deg C. According to the criteria described in the Test Method Regulation (EU 440/2008, method A.5; a substance is surface active if its surface tension is < 60 mN/m). As such, platinum(II) tetraammine diacetate is not considered to be surface active.

Description of key information

In a guideline study, conducted to GLP, the surface tension of a 1 g/L solution of platinum(II) tetraammine diacetate was evaluated by the ring method. The surface tension was determined to be 70.9 mN/m at a temperature of 20 deg C (Mekelburger, 2006b). According to the criteria described in the Test Method Regulation (EU 440/2008, method A.5; a substance is surface active if its surface tension is < 60 mN/m). As such, platinum(II) tetraammine diacetate is not considered to be surface active.
