Experimental data on the aquatic toxicity of Reaction mass of dipotassium 2-(3,4-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl) succinate and dipotassium 2-(4,5-dimethy-1H-pyrazol-1-yl) succinate are not available.The assessment was therefore based on data available for the conjugate acid Reaction mass of 2-(3,4-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)succinic acid and 2-(4,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)succinic acid (CAS 2241455-89-8). The read across approach is in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, Annex XI, 1.5. Please refer to the analogue justification attached to IUCLID section 13 for a detailed justification.

Short-term toxicity data for the source substance Reaction mass of 2-(3,4-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)succinic acid and 2-(4,5-dimethyl-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)succinic acid are available for the three trophic levels fish, aquatic invertebrates and algae. No effects were observed in any of the studies up to and including the highest tested concentration (100 mg/L). One long-term study on the chronic toxicity of the source substance to Daphnia magna is available. Mortality of the parent animals was not observed and the determind NOEC (21 d) was 11.1 mg/L based on reproduction rate.

The toxicity of the source substance to aquatic microorganisms was determined based on the ready biodegradability study. As biodegradation above 35% was observed in the toxicity control with 40 mg/L test substance, an inhibition of the activity of sewage microorganisms is not expected (NOEC (14 d) ≥ 40 mg/L).
