Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
results derived from a valid (Q)SAR model, but not (completely) falling into its applicability domain, with adequate and reliable documentation / justification
Remarks:
The substance is not fully compliant with the applicability domain of the model. Description of key information

Log Koc: 2.316 – 6.45 (QSAR: EPI Suite v4.11, MCI and log Pow - regression based models)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Information on the adsorption potential of the substance Reaction mass of 2-hydroxyethyl laurate and ethylenedilaurate was collected using two QSAR models (MCI and log Pow - regression based methods) implemented within the EPI Suite software (v4.11). Since the substance is a multi-constituent substance the log Koc was calculated for mono-ester components and the di-ester component separately. Both models predict with 2.316 and 2.832 a moderate adsorption potential for the mono-ester component and with 5.67 and 6.45 a high adsorption potential for the di-ester component. Log Koc values of 2.316 and 5.67 were calculated with the MCI and the values of 2.83 and 6.45 with the log Pow based models, accordingly. The mono-ester components are within the applicability domain of the models with respect to the molecular weight, log Kow and structural fragments whereas the di-esters component is not completely in the applicability domain with respect to the high log Kow value. The most similar substances were retrieved from the training set using the OECD QSAR Toolbox v3.4. Strongly similar substances were found in the training set of the models. The MCI model performance on the similar substances was mostly good while the log Pow based model performance varied depending on the molecule from poor to good. The results are used in a weight of evidence approach.
